Soul Care Philosophy

The philosophy behind the practice

What is Soul Care?

Soul care from Deeply Formed operates out of a Christian framework and draws from clinical psychology, pastoral care, personal discipleship and practices in spiritual formation.

In one sense, the soul or heart is the animating center of the human personality. It’s our interior life. In another sense, it is the sum total of all the aspects of what it means to be human. Just like the physical body is a symphony of different systems (skeletal, muscular, nervous, etc) so it is with our “deeper body” composed of our mental, emotional and spiritual realities. The soul is our inner life while it’s also the entirety of our God-created humanity. What I mean by Soul Care is giving attention to the interior life with a view toward the whole person to cultivate health and wholeness. It is Christ-centered (John 5:39-40) and also trinitarian; seeking to encounter love from the Father, to apply the redemptive work of the Son and to walk in step with the Spirit. It is grounded in the Bible and prayer.
